FAQ

Why should I donate diapers/period products?

Donating product to COVERD is a simple and effective way to help families in need within your community. Diapers and period products are a basic necessity and government assistance programs do not cover them! For families living in poverty, the cost of purchasing diapers and period products can be a significant financial burden. By donating products or funds, you are helping to ensure that families have access to these essential items, which can make a huge difference in their daily lives.

What happens to the product once it's donated?

Once your product is donated, it gets counted and sorted by our lovely volunteers. It is then sent to our "wrapping room" to be packaged, stickered, and ready for distribution. Each month, our partner agencies order what they need for their clients and then pick up the product from our warehouse. We distribute around 2.5 million products each year, so you can guarantee that your donation will be in the hands of someone who needs it fairly quickly!

Where can I drop off the donations?

We have several donation bins around the Cincinnati area. Click the "find a drop-off location" button above to see our different drop-off locations. Please do not drop off donations at our warehouse without an appointment first.

I have a large donation - what do I do?

Large donations can be dropped off at our warehouse by appointment only. To make an appointment please email info@coverdgc.org

Can I donate other baby items: clothes, bottles, formula, etc?

No - we ONLY distribute diapers, period products, and adult incontinence items. Please check the list above for the items we accept. If you have other baby items, there are plenty of local nonprofits who would love to take them!

Do you take cloth diapers? Why don't you distribute cloth diapers?

We do not take cloth diaper donations and we do not distribute them. While cloth diapers may save money in the long term, they require an initial investment of money and time that many low-income families can’t afford. To use cloth diapers a family must have reliable access to laundry facilities. Sometimes people living in poverty do not have affordable access to washing facilities or detergent. Many laundromats prohibit the washing of cloth diapers in their machines for sanitary reasons. The majority of licensed daycare centers do not accept cloth diapers, and require parents and caregivers to provide a steady supply of disposable diapers. A child being turned away from a daycare center can mean a day of missed work for a parent and a cut to their already low income. That being said, we LOVE cloth diapers and support those who use them.
